on Cleaning of Fluid-Bed Dryer

 

 

Objective : To describe cleaning procedure for fluid bed dryer.

 

Scope
:

To ensure that the equipment is clean and free from any starting materials of
previous batch or product residues.

 

Responsibility : 1.It  is the responsibility of
operating staff to clean the equipment.

2. Production Chemist to ensure that
procedure is followed.

 

Materials
& Equipment :

1.     
Cleaning agent: Teepol or liquid soap.

2.     
Mops / brush / lint free cloth

 

Procedure

(1)  
Before dismantling the equipment electric supply
must be turned off.

(2)  
Cleaning of Bags:

(a)   
The strap retaining the filter bag unit is unclipped
and detach the sleeves of the bag from the holding hooks.

(b)  
Remove the bag and take to the washing area and
clean the external surface of the bag with boiled tap water. Then turn the bag
inside-out and again wash with boiled tap water.

(c)   
Prepare a Teepol solution (10ml à 10 liters water)
or liquid-soap (50gm
à 5 liters water) and clean the bag from inside and out using a scrubber
to remove any adhering visible material.

(d)  
Wash the bag by running tap water for 30 minutes and
squeeze out the water. Repeat the procedure using tap water for another 10
minutes and drain the washings.

(e)   
Wash the bag with 30 liters of purified water for 10
minutes and drain the washing by squeezing. Repeat the procedure two more
times.

(f)   
Finally rinse the bag with previously boiled
purified water and squeezed.

(g)  
Send the wash water for analysis of residual active
ingredients of previous product.

(h)  
Place the bag on a hanger and allow to dry in air.

(3)  
Cleaning of Bowl:

(a)   
Take the bowl to washing area and fill it with 50
liters of boiled tap water.

(b)  
Remove any visible material from surfaces of bowl
with the help of a nylon brush and drain the washings.

(c)   
Prepare a Teepol solution (10ml à 10 liters water)
or liquid-soap (50gm
à 5 liters water) and clean the surfaces by mopping.

(d)  
Wash the inner surfaces of the bowl by running tap
water for 10 minutes, drain the washings. Repeat the procedure for another 10
minutes and again drain the washings.

(e)   
Wash the inner surfaces of the bowl by using 30
liters of purified water and drain the washings.

(f)   
Finally rinse the bowl with previously boiled
purified water and drain it completely.

(g)  
Send the wash water for analysis or residual active
ingredients of previous product.

(h)  
Let it air dry, cover the bowl and put a label
“Cleaned” or “Ready for use”.
