SOP on Dispensing Operations
1.0 Purpose: This SOP describes the procedure for Dispensing of raw materials.
2.0 Scope: This SOP applies to Stores staff.
3.0 Responsibility: Quality Control Chemist / Production Chemist to ensure that the procedure is followed.
4.0 Materials and Equipment: As required.
5.0 Procedure
5.01 Ensure that the weighing balance is clean, free from any spills of material from previous weighed materials.
5.02 Ensure that the weighing balance is calibrated. (Note: Whenever used first time on a particular day or whenever necessary).
5.03 Bring the previously cleaned material container inside the dispensing booth and open it from the upper side.
5.04 Place the container / polyethylene bag to be used for material weighing and note down the weight.
5.05 Open the polythene bag containing material. Transfer the material by a clean scoop in tared container. Weigh the exact quantities of material required for a particular batch.
5.06 Tie the polythene bag containing weighed quantity of material with a rubber band / plastic rope. Transfer the weighed quantities in another polythene bag and tie with a rubber band or plastic rope. Place in a clean SS container / basin.
5.07 Close the polythene bag from which the material has been transferred, and replace the lid in case of drum.
5.08 Label the dispensed material container with name of material, batch no., A.R. number, quantity and product name.
5.09 Transfer the dispensed quantity in the area specified for dispensed materials.
5.10 Re-place the original container to its proper place in racks.
5.11 Continue step nos. 3 to 10 for other materials.
5.12 Switch off the air button, light button and mains of dispensing booth.
6.0 Precautions:
1. Always use dry and clean dispensing tools / equipment.
2. Do not use same dispensing tool / equipment for different materials.
3. Always ensure any spills inside the dispensing booth are cleaned immediately.
4. Before switching off, ensure no material is left inside the Dispensing booth.
5. Ensure all the entries are made in log book for usage of dispensing booth.
