SOP on Scrap Removal
1.0 Purpose: This document describes the procedure for removal of scrap material from manufacturing area to avoid the misuse or re-use of scrap materials.
2.0 Scope: This SOP applies to operating / cleaning staff.
3.0 Responsibility: Quality Control Chemist, Production chemist to ensure that procedure is followed.
4.0 Materials and Equipment:
As required
5.0 Procedure: (Frequency – Daily at shift end or whenever required)
5.01 Category of Scrap Material –
1. Printed packing materials.
2. Foils – plain & printed ( aluminium,pvc,glassine)
3. Polythene bags
4. PET bottles
5. Shippers
5.02 Collect the scrap from manufacturing area / stores in plastic containers/ bags.
5.03 Transfer the whole scrap in designated area for scrap in basement.
5.04 Segregate the different type of scrap – foils, printed packing material, bottle, polythene bag and shipper etc.
5.05 Printed matter is cut into small pieces or shredded.
5.06 Aluminium scrap / polythene bags / shippers are packed separately.
5.07 PET bottles are crushed.
5.08 Scrap is sold to reliable known scrap dealers.
