SOP on Operation of Coating Pan
1.0 Purpose: This SOP describes the procedure for the operation of coating pan.
2.0 Scope: This SOP applies to the operating staff of the production department.
3.0 Responsibility: It is the responsibility of the Production Supervisor to ensure that the procedure is followed.
4.0 Materials and Equipment: None
5.0 Procedure:
5.01 Before starting the operation of coating pan, ensure that it is cleaned.
5.02 Fit the air blower pipe and start the pan.
5.03 Load the weighed quantity of the material to be coated from the container into the coating pan. Warm up the material by blowing warm air onto the rotating material in the coating pan.
5.04 Pour the coating solution over the material in the coating pan. In the case of granules/tablets spray with the coating solution and allow the material to rotate. Simultaneously dry the material with a current of warm air. Continue the process till the required level of coating is allowed.
5.05 After completion of coating, remove the coated material from the coating pan collect it in a cleaned polythene-lined SS container, and label it appropriately.
