SOP on Cleaning of PVC Hose Pipes
1. Objective : To describe a cleaning procedure for PVC Hose Pipes.
2. Scope : To ensure that the Hose Pipes are clean and free from any starting materials or product residues. This SOP is applicable to all types of hose pipes used in manufacturing of a product batch.
3. Responsibility : It is the responsibility of operating staff to clean the hose pipes.
4. Materials & Equipment :
1. Cleaning agent: Teepol or detergent soap.
2. Mops / brush / lint free cloth
5. Procedure
5.1 After completion of transfer / filtration / filling of a batch, dismantle the PVC hose pipes.
5.2 Wash the hose pipes with running tap water to remove any visible / sticky material.
5.3 Prepare a Teepol solution (10ml in 10 liters water) or detergent-soap solution (50gm in 5 liters water) and clean the inner and outer surfaces of the hose pipes.
5.4 Wash the hose pipes with running tap water to remove any traces of detergent solution.
5.5 Wash the hose pipes with sufficient hot water for 5 minutes.
5.6 Clean the hose pipes with sufficient purified water.
5.7 Always keep hose pipes in curved position covered with a polythene bag, when not in use.
5.8 Send the wash water for analysis for residual matters (i.e. soap, active materials, total solids etc.).
5.9 Put a label “Cleaned” or “Ready for use.”
