SOP on Operation of Weighing Balance (Platform)
1.0 Purpose: This SOP describes the method for operation of weighing balance.
2.0 Scope: This SOP applies to Stores staff.
3.0 Responsibility: Store keeper / Production Chemist to ensure that the procedure is followed.
4.0 Materials and Equipment: As required.
5.0 Procedure: 
5.01 Check and ensure cleanliness of the weighing balance.
5.02 Switch on the balance and allow it to stabilize.
5.03 Check for zero position, if required adjust to zero by pressing “Zero” button. 
5.04 Check the calibration of balance with standard weights and ensure that weight variation from standard weights is within the given limits.
5.05 Place the container to be weighed in the center of the weighing platform to get correct reading.
5.06 Note down the reading of the weight displayed on screen and then gently remove the container from platform.
5.07 When Net / Gross weight to be taken use Net / gross weight buttons respectively.
5.08 Avoid keeping filled containers on weighing balance platform for prolonged time.
5.09 After completion of weighing operation, clean the weighing balance thoroughly as per SOP.
