SOP on Day End Cleaning of Blister Packing Machine
1.0 Purpose: This SOP describes the procedure for cleaning of a blister packing machine.
2.0 Scope: This SOP applies to operating staff of the production department.
3.0 Responsibility: It is the responsibility of the Production Supervisor to ensure that the procedure is followed.
4.0 Materials and Equipment:
4.01 Acetone
4.02 Lint free cloth
4.03 Brush
5.0 Procedure:
5.01 At the end of the day using a vacuum cleaner, the machine body and hopper should be cleaned.
5.02 The dust collecting tray under the vibratory bowl should be removed and the dust emptied out. The tray should be replaced in the position.
5.03 The channel should be dismantled and wiped with acetone.
5.04 The ink from the inkpot of overprinting unit should be emptied out and the inkpot rinsed with denatured sprit.. The rubber stereos should be washed with denatured spirit and cleaned with soft brush taking care not to damage type heads. The washed and cleaned type heads should then be re-assembled on printing unit.
5.05 The roller pockets should be cleaned with a wire brush.
5.06 All contact machine parts must be cleaned/washed free from previous products at the time of product change.
5.07 The dust extraction unit should be dismantled and the cloth bag collecting dust should be emptied out and washed. The washed bag should be replaced and the entire unit re-assembled.
