Carbohydrate Metabolism
Different pathways of carbohydrate metabolism are as
follows:
Glycolysis: Glycolysis is a
catabolic process, in which the glucose is catalysed by oxidation. The energy
so obtained, is in the presence of oxygen i.e. anaerobically. Hence it is also
called as ‘anaerobic fermentation of glucose’. The oxidation of glucose to
pyruvate and lactate is called glycolysis. It is also called as Embden Meyerh of
pathway.
