SOP on Dedusting and Decartoning of materials

1.0 Purpose: This SOP describes the procedure for dedusting and decartoning of containers of materials.

2.0 Scope: This SOP is applicable to all materials (raw and / or packaging) received for manufacture of a drug product.

3.0 Responsibility: Production Chemist to ensure that procedure is followed.

4.0 Materials and Equipment: As required.

5.0 Procedure: 

5.1 Receive materials in area ear marked for Dedusting & Decartoning of materials.

5.2 Clean outer surface of the containers with dry lint free cloth.

5.3 Remove straps from the containers, if any.

5.4 Remove outer coverings of jute bags / polythene bags, if any from corrugated / plastic drums.

5.5 Clean outer surfaces of corrugated / plastic drums with lint free dry cloth.
