SOP on Storage of Finished Goods

1.0 Purpose: This SOP describes the procedure for storage of finished goods.
2.0 Scope: This SOP applies to Stores staff.
3.0 Responsibility: Production Chemist to ensure that procedure is followed.
4.0 Materials and Equipment: As required
5.0 Procedure
5.01 Stocks received from Production Department should be received with proper documents detailing name of product, batch number, ,M/D, E/D, number of units of final packs of each batch, and date of dispatch.
5.02 Stocks should be stored product wise to enable quick identification and control of stock movement.
5.03 Stock rotation should be on ‘FIFO’ basis. Stocks should therefore be racked and stored in such a manner that earlier stocks are more easily accessible than later ones.
5.04 Picking stocks should be located on shelves at convenient heights and with proper labels which clearly identify products.
5.05 Picking and assembling of products according to orders should be done against standard, dated and serially numbered documents.
5.06 Assembled products should be checked for accuracy of quantities and identities of products ordered. Where batch details are to be noted for specific products, this should be done and recorded in relevant documents.
